Gender Equality and International Human Rights Law in Kyrgyzstan

Abstract Gender inequality is one of the main socioeconomic and transformation issues for women in Central Asia due to inherited patriarchal culture, low prioritization problem at country level, poor representation decision-making processes. In case Kyrgyzstan, last couple years, news headlines have been filled with sad stories suffering from domestic gender-based violence discrimination. It appears that women’s rights interests are not protected, monitored, or part state’s agenda.
